Royal Envoy 2 is being released today (October 31, 2011) at Playrix.com. The first Royal Envoy was one of my absolute favorite games. I didn't write a guide for it because the Collector's Edition included one, so I played Royal Envoy when it came out last year just for the absolute fun of it and had a total blast. The addition of the walkthrough and the bonus levels made it definitely worth the price for the Collector's Edition. So for goodness' sake, go play that game first and then come back to play Royal Envoy 2--not for any reason other than you can double your fun and the first is never as much fun to play after you have played the second game in a series in my opinion because of increased difficulty and improvements.

Okay, enough about the first game--let's talk Royal Envoy 2. Can I just say I LOVED IT and you have to go play it and leave it at that?
No…you want details? Okay! Let's see…Playrix has pretty much completely changed the entire game while keeping it the same. How did they do that? You, the city planner, and Cedric are back to your old building antics. This time you are saving Middleshire from corrupt mismanagement. You will get to play a total of 63 levels plus 30 bonus levels in this game. They kept the old buildings and such, but added tons of new stuff. You now have trees to chop down, berries to pick, lumber camps and farms to staff, and lots of new and interesting things to build. In my demo version, I got to build a snow fort and have a snow ball fight! Take a look at the video below to see what other exciting things are going to happen; Max and I saw trains and lava rivers, which he thought were pretty cool!
One very nice change is not having a tax collector anymore. Now you just have workers to do your bidding and when buildings produce, you will click on the resource to pick it up without sending someone to get it or wait on it. Also for the first time I've seen, your level finishing time will be awarded up to 3 stars; it's not all or nothing. I found Royal Envoy 2 to be a great and a fun challenge, but just the right amount. It is going to need a walkthrough and if they don't publish one with the game, then you can bet I'll be writing one.
Finally, from what I can tell after playing about 15 levels, Royal Envoy 2 is now the resource management game to measure all others against. At least the portion of the game that I got to play was that good!
Take a look at the preview video for Royal Envoy 2. It does a great job showing what is in store for you and it doesn't make the game look better than it is. It is that good! I imagine they will have a demo of the game available to try before buying, so give that a shot also. If you love it and haven't played Royal Envoy, I highly recommend playing both games but do play them in order.
