Plight of the Zombie turns the tables on your classic zombie apocalypse theme in this hysterical action game. Instead of running from the living dead, become one, and join in on the hunt for BRAINS! Collect carelessly discarded brains along the streets before going in for a fresher treat. But beware... Granny's got a shot gun and she's not afraid to use it!
Plight of the Zombie is an interactive game that seems to be more suited to your smartphone or tablet rather than on the computer due to its touch-screen-like functions, but if you don’t mind replacing your finger with the mouse then this could be the game for you.
Set in the theme of the Walking Dead, there seems to be a phenomenon that is causing the undead to rise from the grave. Despite watching it on the world news, the game’s main protagonist, Craig, could not help but want for a nice juicy hamburger during mankind’s dire moment of need.
The world is coming to an end and all Craig can think about is junk food…
Something happens to Craig during his journey to obtain a burger, however, and he now finds himself in need of something else to eat… BRAINS.
Golly I think I’m hungry for something else besides burgers now...
This is where you come in. You will need to help poor Craig out by leading him toward the brains lying on the street for him to eat before proceeding to lead him to a live source of nutrients.
You can direct Craig by first clicking on him and then dragging a pathway that is highlighted in green. Once you’re happy with the path you have created, just release the mouse, and Craig will begin following the path you outlined for him. As Craig moves around the path, he is very responsive, and you are able to stop him in his tracks simply by double-clicking on him at any time.
Sneak up on the shotgun-wielding granny!
Gaining a perfect score in every level is determined by how many brains you eat before you consume the human at the end and ultimately gain a new zombie friend. Oh isn’t that nice?
The music in Plight of the Zombie creates a perfect atmosphere that is relevant to a game themed after the Walking Dead. However, as melodic as it may be, there is the absence of fear as compared to other survival horror games, where you are trying to outrun and survive the zombie apocalypse.
Here, you are on the other side, which helps to breath new life into this genre. Instead of running away from zombies, you are actually running after humans to eat them. All the while manoeuvring around obstacles and avoiding humans with shotguns.
The graphics are really cartoony and gives Plight of the Zombie a sort of wacky look to it, which fits the game perfectly. On bigger screens the game may look a bit jagged at some points on the screen but looks perfectly fine on a smartphone.
Like all other games and apps on the iPhone and Android systems, this game gives players the opportunity to purchase "Brain Bucks," which typically allows players to unlock new abilities, characters, and weapons from early on.
I have always found this aspect as a "cheater's way to win" because, rather than wait to collect power-ups, one can just easily unlock everything in the game for a few dollars. To me, that beats the purpose of playing the game in the first place!
Overall, Plight of the Zombie provides for a fun and easy game that is easy to pick up and can provide a certain level of challenge to the more mature gamers. If you are looking for a game that is entertaining, funny, and creative, then look no further than this one.
