Oy! What a night! I knew I should have gone to bed earlier last night… or should I say this morning. Classes today were torture. I couldn’t stay awake! And it’s all this addicting game’s fault! I can’t believe I stayed up that long just to play a game with no blood or bombs. But I couldn’t help myself. It was a cool detective-style game that had me hooked from the moment I walked into that eerie hotel in Mystery Trackers: The Void.
I like old movies, especially mystery and suspense, so Mystery Trackers: The Void already had that going for it. But ay dios mio, this game is really involved. I didn’t know what I was volunteering for when I decided to make a guide out of this one. It’s a very long game with tons… I mean tons of puzzles and games. There are more than 30 videos of puzzles that I took in this walkthrough and almost 250 screenshots… overkill you say? Maybe… but trust me, you’re going to need them.
What’s the story? Who do I look like, Morgan? Ok. Here it is in a nutshell. You are a cool detective for the Mystery Trackers, a secret society of some sort, and you are assigned to investigate the goings on at the Void Mansion. Three celebrities are missing and last known to have been at the mansion.
The mansion is creepy and you know right from the start there’s going to be trouble from the way the front door is boarded up. You soon begin to discover that Mr. Void might just be a genius, but he suffers from a very real case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde… and you’ve attracted the attentions of his evil side.
The graphics are good, nothing super spectacular, but fit well with the story. The sound effects and music were also OK; although I turned them off at some point last night so I could listen to my own music. Like I said before, the game is long, so be prepared to sit down with a bottle of Mountain Dew and a great playlist because you’re going to be sitting at the computer for a while.
Speaking of… the sugar and caffeine have definitely worn off so I’m going to go crash for a bit before I get some real playing in later.
