OMG it's finally over! I handed in my last paper, took my last test, and I am free for the summer!!!
I just got home yesterday, and I have the entire house to myself. My parents are on vacation celebrating their 35th anniversary, woohoo! They took a nice Caribbean cruise and should be gone for the rest of the week! Mom left a fridge full of food and a list of chores for me, so naturally I grabbed a plate of lasagna and headed to my room for a night of gaming!
I knew exactly what game I wanted to play too! Dragon Keeper! When I first saw it come out, I thought it looked different then the time management games I'm used to so that intrigued me… and of course you all know that I am a sucker for the time management games… so Dragon Keeper was a must for me anyhow.
So here's the rundown of the game… you're a prince, and you're all set to marry a beautiful princess… awwwww I like it already. But before you can say your "I do's" an evil witch appears to ruin your plans… apparently she objected to your union! She cursed your bride-to-be and put the entire kingdom under a spell. I know what you're thinking… haven't I heard this story before, but trust me, it gets better so hang in there.
Anyhow, you can only break the spell with the help of your friendly neighborhood dragons, but they're busy making babies! Unless… Dragon daycare is now open! You officially sign on to take care of dragon babies… that's right… the heroic prince rolls up his sleeves and prepares to change dirty dragon diapers and feed hungry dragon mouths in order to save his fair maiden! I had a good laugh about that for a bit…
So to begin, the heroic prince must first help a baby dragon out of its egg. You just need to crack it open by clicking on the egg and out pops the most adorable baby dragon! Now it's down to business. Baby dragon… I named my first one Herman… he needs to be fed. So when a bubble appears above his head with a picture of a drumstick… feed that baby quick! Just click on him, and you'll throw him some meat. As the baby dragon walks around, he'll basically poop out gems that you need to click on to collect. These gems will help you forge beautiful jewelry that you can sell for some money.
You play the game in stages that are days. So you start with the dragons sleeping and then end when they fall asleep. In between the days you can do what any good papa would do and prepare the nest for tomorrow… fill up the feeding bars, make and sell jewelry, hire some help, and buy provisions to help you take better care of the babies.
Every day, you will have a new task to complete that's given to you by the mama dragon. So for instance, you may have to collect 10 green gems. Once you do that, you'll receive rewards such as money or pieces of a magic item that you can use to save your princess and the kingdom.
One of my favorite things in Dragon Keeper was hero attack… as you play the day, randomly heroes will approach the nest and try to steal your gems. To stop them, you can click on them… every time you click on them, they lose a piece of clothing, until they are down to their skivvies and running home for their mama! It was hysterical! Once you strip a poor sot of his clothes, a blue ball will appear. That's a hero's essence… click on it. It can buy you upgrades on the nest and it zaps another hero on the screen.
As you can probably tell… I'm really into this game. In fact… it's past midnight and I think I might go for another round or two before hitting the hay… hey, sleep's overrated! And I have baby dragon mouths to feed you know!
